Not too bothered by this gain. Had a lovely time going out for dinner last week for hubby's birthday, which included live jazz. And there were other celebration treats as well for our 21 year anniversary.

I started a new evening job to help make ends meet so just getting into my new routine. So far it seems stress-free and won't interfere with my daytime freelance work. Will be interesting when the clocks change this weekend though. Last year I think I let the weather (or rather - the lack of sunlight) get to me towards the end of winter and I'm determined not to let that happen this year. So going out each evening and getting slightly out of my comfort zone is part of changing my perception of things and practicing gratitude. The thought is that I can... (fill in blank) and I am so grateful to be able to!

It's been another doozy of a year with a close family member fighting cancer right now and two distant family members passing away recently - not fun having to watch funerals online. I also won't see my sisters for Christmas, as I had been planning to since March, so all fingers and toes are crossed that we can all get together for Easter next year - so that is what I'm working towards.

We will have a happy Christmas with hubby's sister and niece though. And we'll be close to the sea so whether the weather plays along or not I'm looking forward to a few crisp morning walks along the coast.

I didn't manage any strength workouts this week, but we did a fair amount of walking and I'll walk to work this evening as well. I did a lovely yoga inspired flow and stretch with Well with Hels on YouTube a while ago that might become part of my weekly routine whenever I'm feeling stiff again - so far so good. She seems to have lots of different ones as well - because I love variety.

Will try to lose a kilo or two again this month before Christmas is here (up and down like a yo-yo). If I can keep my weekday calories below 1500 I might have a fighting chance. The two weeks where we do the pub quiz on Monday nights always gets me - because I just can't refuse a hot chip sarnie with fresh, soft white bread. ;) But, I will employ 16:8 fasting as well to reduce calories where needed on occasion. The other problem is that weekend calories can often creep around 3000 a day and that throws the whole thing off too - so I'll try to keep tracking through this month. December will be a lot more lax, but I think it will be some much needed down-time.

It would be good to get back to 2 to 3 strength workouts a week - even if just 20 minute sessions - so I'll see if can make that work. I didn't buy a set of weights just for them to sit on the floor collecting dust!

Congratulations on the birthdays, anniversaries and the gratitude approach! Very reflective post and lots of changes there including a new job to help with the cost of living. You’re very close to your 65kg goal so the odd pound here and there is not an issue! You have identified some trends over the weekend so I wonder if going slightly under during the week would help you too? Well done on the daily walk, I’ve been very tempted on buying the 20kg adjustable weights! And about the lack of sunlight if not too expensive a light alarm or a natural light lamp help a lot, even if just for half an hour a day.

Thank you D33_! Yes, reducing calories during the week has been a successful strategy for me in the past so I'm doing it again. I've been quite happy with my adjustable weights because I had two different dumbbell sizes when I started out and eventually they do become a bit limiting. Thanks for the tip about the light - I have heard about them before - so perhaps I should try to get one this year. Hope you're having a good week!

hi Nikina, you seem to be going through a mixed bag of emotions at the moment. First the sad news of your friends who have passed away 😢. also the ones suffering. But luckily you have a great husband abd a very supportive family. Also many things to celebrate 🍾 ✨️ that's fantastic 😀 I am sure those who are struggling with cancer etc wouldn't want you Not to be happy 😊. congratulations on your anniversary and late happy birthday to your hubby! I'm sorry for your disappointments and stresses with people who are hurting. I too struggle greatly with the dark days of winter. I tried a lap to help with the SAD, but it gave me a headache every time. Maybe I will try again with a different type. I don't mind the rain, but the gloom and short days in Seattle gets really tough, so I really get what you are saying. Anyway, good luck on your plans for the coming month. You are great with following through!

It is so wonderful to feel this small connection with you across the ether. Hahah! I was actually exactly as you described! My hubby had trotted off to get something from the bakery. It is a little chillier this morning with a little rain in the forecast, but I bet it won't be like a Seattle rain! It feels so cool to be so near to you... Well by comparison! At least we are sharing the same morning! We set foot for the first time in the UK on our way here. Our stop in Dublin was long enough to get out to a little castle and wander around a bit. It was so green! Yes, I know... Far from you but closer than I have been! Have a good rest of your week! Thank you for checking in on my little adventures!

Aah, Melissa! I would absolutely LOVE to visit you in Seattle one day! We are both huge Frasier fans so kind of have an idea of the weather there just from their winter coats and such and I know it's a really beautiful part of the world too! San Francisco is on my bucket list so I'd love to visit you on that same trip over one day. So cool that you could visit a castle in Dublin too! I will hopefully spend some more time there next year visiting my sister. And yes, it is fun being in the same time-line for a change! I hope you both have a fantastic weekend and enjoy your last few days in Spain. Travel home safely and I'll look up in the sky sometime on Thursday and think of you! Hugs! xxx
