MUST be water weight. Did you eat a lot of carbs? Every 1 gram of glucose binds 3g of water

I did 3 pounds up since yesterday. For me I know it was 50 carbs after being totally glycogen depleted after a week of fasting.

@adef, did u wo yesterday? You would have burned those extra carbs!

@srossca - Yes, I worked out at the gym and killed it. I thought I would have burned through most of my glycogen but my two day carb load was 140 carbs! This is almost twice what I consumed in the previous 5 days. Exercise helps but as they say 'diet starts in the kitchen'. CONSUMING less carbs is what I need to do rather than hoping to burn off a lot of glycogen with exercise. Now, when the fast restarts tomorrow, I HOPE to go into a 5 day water drop like I did last week. However, who knows? The body works by its own rules...

Thanks everyone. Really appreciate the thoughtful comments. Missed a day of exercise, but got out to run for an hour today before my shift. Weight gain because i ate for my wife, lots of starchy carbs, and fat. She has a different set of priorities. But meeting her needs was more important than meeting mine yesterday, at least it was to me. It has been a bit of challenging week, but I guess that's a choice. It's been filled with opportunities to shine, to grow, and to heal. Loved the chance to work in the psych er today. I'm mostly an administrator now. Department chair, so it's rare that I just put down the phone, disconnect for a day and attend to other people's needs. We run one of the busiest public psych services in the country. I had a great time, truth is I love seeing patients. More than balancing budgets and dealing with health system and HR issues. But you need administrators too. Thanks again. You're a good lot.
