Day #42. Six weeks. Weight still the same this morning. Still, the only way I will make my challenge goal is by the grace and empowerment of God. With Him, all things are possible.

As to what I'm going to do after the fast is over...I'm going to enjoy lots of fresh, healthy vegetables and indulge in some decadently sweet summer fruits. I'm looking forward to a nice fruit salad. I make it with watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, fresh pineapple, cherries, green and red grapes, apples and strawberries, though I have to keep those separate because my husband doesn't like them. I also add banana when it is served. My husband likes "fruit dip" (made with vanilla pudding, milk and Cool Whip), but I can live without it.

I plan to be more mindful in my eating - eating slowly, chewing well, and savoring the flavors of each food.

I'm going to try to cut my portion sizes down to half (or at least 2/3) of what I would "normally" eat, and not get refills. I will try to have all meals on a salad plate, instead of on a big dinner plate.

I plan to continue to drink 10-12 cups of water a day, and (for now) continue with drinking Diet Coke. Hopefully, I'll give that up someday, but I don't feel convicted to do it right now. That's for another day and time.

I'm going to see if my husband would be willing for us to NOT watch TV while we are eating dinner, but rather to TALK during that time. We've had some good conversations in lieu of TV over the past several weeks.

As to WHAT I'll be eating, I know I will not be doing keto. I'm not going to eliminate so many of the nutritious and delicious fresh foods God has provided for us. I'm also not going to completely eliminate breads or other starches. So far, I know more what I'm NOT going to do than what I AM going to do. Moderation will be key, though, with whatever WOE I settle on.

Got more thunderstorms yesterday. Supposed to be only slight chances of rain today. Have to pick up my daughter's family to take them to the airport at 4:45am. That actually necessitated me having to "clean out" my car. Now, it is tidy enough that I can actually take it to a car wash for a good cleaning and vacuuming. It desperately needs it!

Hope everyone is having a great end to their week. Every day can be a brand new beginning. "Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift, that's why it's called 'the present.'"

Sounds like a really good plan Debbie--congratulations on your weight loss, day at a time.

Yesterday I had a Mango and a few cherries. Today my weight is up. That is exactly what I found happened after I lost all my weight last time. I wanted fruit more than any other thing I had temporarily given up. I can live without sweets and bread, but I felt I deserved fruit on maintenance. So first I added a little fruit (which turned to sugar in my body triggering my sugar addiction), then if we were out and only a sandwich was convenient, occasional bread. Eventually, I'd partake in a splurge sweet. Slowly by slowly, I lost control. I hope you will be better able to control than me. I sure don't trust myself. For the challenge, I only have 3 lbs to lose and I have an extra week past you, but I may have to fast near the end. I don't look forward to that. I have never been good at it.

I try to honor the cook at mealtimes. No electronics, ever. 🎈💐

Your new WOE sounds perfect, and just in time for summer with all of the produce at the height of the season. Most of my food is raw fruits and veggies, salads especially, and I never put whip cream or sugar on my fruit. If you buy it ripe (and organic if it's available), it will taste sweet as nature intended. Also if you skip the added sweeteners (including the fake, chemical ones like Slenda), your tastebuds will learn to "calm down" and not expect the heightened sweetness that jacking up foods with sugar.

@Snowwhite100, you're very good at INTERMITTENT fasting - just do that if you need a boost. @JustBananas, sound advice about the artificial sweeteners. @Erq1, no, all my systems are functioning perfectly (except, of course, digestion, which enjoys a rest during extended fasting). I appreciate your concern, but I've felt better NOT eating than I did when I was eating. @Sarah1950, I like the idea of "honoring the cook!" I'll use that with my husband if he starts to want to watch TV again while we eat.

Reading Erq1's comment i realized that you live 42 days without food!? Nothing at all? I thought it was some kind of intermittent fasting.

@Tassos67, only water, hot tea and Diet Coke (I know, I know - I could've left out that last one!)

I'm indulging in one of my favorite chemical treats right now, an Arnold Palmer made with Mio. Not one redeeming thing about it, but so delish. 1/2 lemonade, 1/2 iced tea. Right now, I like it even better than Diet Coke.

You've been "eating" your excess fat, and it seems to be working wonderfully. As long as you're feeling well, I say - go for it.

I quit fasting in my early 40's. My body doesn't like them anymore. The only fasts I put "my" body through, now, are breakFASTS. Take care. =)
